About us
The Leadership of Word of Grace Ministry
The work of Word of Grace Ministry (WoGM) is not the product of a fleeting impulse. It is the result of years of disciplined service, theological preparation, and a specific calling to bring the Gospel to chaotic places. We believe that true ministry requires more than just a desire to help; it requires the training to teach and the dedication to serve.
Our history is defined by a consistent movement toward the "highways and hedges"—leaving the comfort of the established sanctuary to bring the hope of the Gospel to those who cannot come to us.

Reaching out with the gospel of grace and truth
The transition from the pulpit to the prison cell was not a sudden shift, but a calculated expansion of duty. Wesley began to function as a Chaplain in local jails, nursing homes, and hospices, applying his previous ministry experience in new ways.
His commitment to the incarcerated population of Western North Carolina is documented by a long history of faithful presence:
This timeline represents thousands of hours spent teaching, counseling, and distributing resources in the region's most difficult environments. It serves as evidence that WoGM is a fixture in the WNC correctional system, trusted by officials to deliver consistent spiritual care.
Credentials and Accountability
The foundation for the ministry
In an era of independent, unregulated ministries, Word of Grace stands firmly under the authority of the local church. We are not a "lone wolf" operation.
In 2020, Wesley was installed as an Elder at Barberville Baptist Church in Waynesville, NC. He continues to serve in this office, ensuring that his work in the prisons is anchored to a local body of believers. He is accountable to the church body, as well as his fellow Elders, maintaining the biblical qualification of an overseer.
Furthermore, his professional standing is recognized by state and national bodies:
Member of the North Carolina Sheriff’s Office Chaplains Association (Admitted April 4, 2023).
Endorsed by the SBC & NAMB for volunteer work in Hospice, Hospitals, Nursing Homes, and Correctional Institutions.
These endorsements provide our supporters with the assurance that this ministry operates with integrity and oversight from recognized authorities.
